Sadness and Happiness All At Once!

When I ran out of paint today I was happy and sad all at the same time!  I could NOT stop painting!  I just wanted to get it done.  I ran out before I even got the shed completed. I have two bottom halves to complete and the trim to update.  I am hoping this next weekend I will get to finish the shed, start and complete the east side of the house and get the shutters bought and painted.  I am choosing to spend on house improvements rather than the new phone I have been waiting for forever!!  I guess some things DO change!!  I plan on posting pics but only when I am mostly done.  I took pictures when we moved in because I knew we'd be doing some changing so I'll do the before after when the after is DONE!!  I can't wait!

After I slept in WAY too late on Sunday (all that painting wore me out) we headed out to Lake Wilson to see some friends that were camping out.  It was a nice time sitting around talking and eating seeds.  We came back and yep, I started painting again.  Got up this morning, did some straightening up in the house, laundry and then, yep, painted again!  I ran out about 6 or so this evening so it's been Cake Boss all night.  Thankfully it was re-runs tonight or I wouldn't be getting to watch it.  Makes me miss my Granny's icing!  She used to do wedding cakes and we'd always get to eat some of her leftover icing.  Yummo!  Not to mention the frozen roses!  For some reason they were the BEST!  I have the recipe for her icing.  Might be something to do this week while I'm waiting to get more paint!

Have a great week.  It's already Tuesday!

Progress

So, I have TONS of stuff/pictures to blog about.  I am guessing I won't be posting ALL of the pics because it takes too long and some don't really have to be.

Last weekend we went to Oklahoma for graduation.  My kids I taught my first year were graduating and I can tell you that is the closest I have come to feeling like a mother.  I could not believe they were old enough to be walking across that stage.  I loved the shocked expressions when some of them saw me because they didn't know I would be there.  One backed away from me until he realized who I was and gave me a big old hug.  One girl said "Shut Up!!" and then hugged me and told me she couldn't believe I made it.  I wouldn't have missed it for the world.  If I feel that much emotion for those young adults I can't imagine the love I would feel for a child of my own.  I even got to see a few of my favorites that will be graduating next year.  It is amazing the connection you develop with kids as a teacher.  I'd do anything for some of them!

Rakee!!!  He will always be so special to me!

Katie-bug!!  So special and so sweet!

Diamon! (yes, that's how you spell it!)
 Love this girl!

So proud of Jennifer!

Another part of the weekend was spent visiting my Granny.  I hadn't seen her in I don't know how long (at least two years I'm guessing) so Saturday I went down to Lawton with mom to visit.  Rusty separated from me Friday when we arrived in Oklahoma to go to a Rangers/Cubs game with his dad and uncle.  I must say I was jealous!! He is thinking about making it up to me and taking me to the Rockies/Cubs game the end of July.  Hoping maybe we can see Jen and her family then too!  We'll have to save up for it.

                                                                                                                                    My Granny!!!!

Mom enjoying our visit.

                                                         Me enjoying our visit!

We have been in our house for almost one year and I have been so disappointed that it still looks basically the same on the outside.  We have planned on painting it, just didn't know when.  Rusty isn't the most enthusiastic about painting.  In fact, I'm willing to bet he would say he HATES painting.  He finally bought paint two weeks ago and we got to it today.  Actually, I came home and started last night and then he came out and helped me some.  This morning was an early morning and we got the whole front and one whole side of the house done. I will probably do the little shed out back tomorrow.  We will be waiting until next weekend or so to finish up.  The back may wait even longer.  That stuff is rough on an old injured back!  Nothing a few drinks and pain pills didn't help.  I really don't care to drink much but with it as hot as it was and with the pain as bad as it was, I sucked it up and had two.  I don't want to post pics until we are finished.  We need to purchase shutters and so forth and we are strictly a no credit card family now so all in good time my pretty!

We had an awesome day and I feel so accomplished.  I am very pleased with the looks of the house and can't wait to get it all completed.  The rock I would like to do in place of the brick will be a while but it will be so worth the wait!

Enjoy tomorrow as Saturday Part II!

Birds Belong Outside

Rusty and I arrived home from a day out and about with different friends.  We went to see my friend Lindsay that I hadn't seen in 15 years to celebrate her graduating with her masters degree.  After that we went to see this beautiful 1 day old baby boy and his parents at the hospital.  We then went by Rick and Renee's to meet a stray dog they had found.  He reminded us so much of Marley when we found her.  We then ran to Russell to eat at A&W and have some awesome root beer.

So, when we got home there were feathers in the hallway.  Great.  That means Bubba had a bird in here.  I had assumed he ate it until we found him hovering over the little baby.  Thankfully the bird was okay from what I could tell.  I took the little guy/gal out back and locked Bubba in.  After several hours we let Bubba back out and here he comes with what I imagine was the same damn bird.  This time I took him outside the fence.  I sure hope he/she makes it.

It was supposed to rain last night and today so plans were altered according to that. We had a pretty lazy afternoon/evening so far.  I love being able to hang out with Rick and Renee shooting the breeze.  Hours could pass and I'd never know.  Definitely need more of that!

We saved up and ordered our sliding patio dog door for the babies.  Feels good to save for stuff and pay cash.  No more credit cards.  I am proud to say that I did not buy the purse that I wanted.  It took a lot but I knew it wasn't a priority or practical.  Major change for me but it is working great because I love not being a slave to credit card payments!

Hi!

So, it's Wednesday and tomorrow is Thursday.  I kinda like that!

I got to hang out and chat with Becca tonight and it was a long time coming!  Today was her birthday (Happy Birthday again!) so I was happy to get to see her.  We always have a good time and great chats!

The weather is cold and dreary but makes it easy to relax.  I was going to take an evening off from jogging/walking but went anyway.  It was cold at first but got a little better and I was also able to run a little farther tonight than I started out at on Sunday.  Learning to regulate my breathing is the toughest part for me.  Either way, I was proud of myself for going anyway!

Not much else.  I have a co-worker whose daughter is doing a Miche catalog party and I didn't realize how roomy they were and how reasonable.  You can also design your own on their website.  I researched having a purse made with Pootie's pic on it a couple years ago and it cost about $150.00!!!!  This is only about $40 for a custom shell and would be perfect.  I would just like to start out with a base and two shells but it may not work out for me this time.  Damn budget!  If you think about it, it's two purses for $60 which is a pretty darn good deal!  Oh well, what's the saying??  Wish in one hand, shit in the other?  Something like that.  I heard that a lot growing up.  :o)

So, other than purses bouncing through my head not much else going on in there right now.  Need to get to bed.  Been sleeping so good, just getting back there too late.  So, off I go!

It's Spring

Spring has sprung and brought with it tornado's.  Glad my friends and family in Oklahoma are ok.  Got a LOT too close to my mom but she is fine, other than her nerves and the thought of the experience.  Not cool to be standing at your back door and see things start flying by!

Not much going on here.  Been trying to follow in my father-in-laws foot steps and loose some weight.  Way to go Gene!!

A quick (early) shout out to my friend Becca.  Happy Happy Birthday tomorrow!!  Hope what you have planned is great!

Here's some pics!

Bubba says scoot over!!!!!!!

Me...sans eye make-up (I don't wear anything but eye's and lip gloss..no foundation here!).  Not great but I'd thought I'd post it anyway since I haven't really posted one since I got my hair done.  You can't really tell anyway!  Hopefully in a few weeks I will post another one and you will see my face a little thinner!

Miss Me?

I didn't think so.  I have several pics to post and it is kind of a pain in the butt sitting and waiting and I just don't feel like doing that right now.  So, maybe tonight or tomorrow?

P.S.  Remember that last post about ticks? I'm having Deja Vu all over again.  Had one on my neck damn near the same spot.  Now have the swollen lymph nodes.  Let's just hope it doesn't develop what it did last time.  Even worse, all this took place this SAME time last year (month and all) and I ended up sick for graduation in Oklahoma.  Guess where I am going towards the end of the month???  Yep.......we'll see.  I used to NEVER be afraid of ticks.  I'd pick them off and go.  Now, I am literally afraid of them.  Let's hope I don't get sick from this one like I did last year.
