Holy Schnikes!

Oh my gosh.  I totally forgot about blogging!  Cake business has been booming and I stay super busy.  So, I'm alive, I'm here.  I hope to maybe get a good one up soon.  Until I can, you can check out my progress on my cakes at:

Cakes

I really should post more!  I had a trip to Hays and had an amazing time.  I'll try and get a better post out soon.  I got an iPad so I really won't be getting on the laptop much anymore!  Here's a few pictures of my cake I worked on tonight.  I'm trying to do one a week to get extra practice.  This is all buttercream.  They could look so much better and smoother with fondant but no one wants fondant.  They like the way they look but they want the taste of buttercream!  I totally understand!

Hi

I'm still here. Exhausted, busy and yada yada yada!  Lots going on..........cakes, storms, tornadoes, worrying about family in Moore and did I mention worry?  I spent a whole week on this gem.  I was asked by a friend to make a cake for her parents 50th wedding anniversary.  I was so excited and was going to do a classic white cake with gold accents when she asked for wildflower colors.  So, all the flowers were handmade on this bad boy.  Everything was edible other than the stamens on a few of the flowers.  I'll try and post more later about my little turkey butt and what all has been going on!

Time Passes So Quickly

Wow, been a while!  I don't hardly sit down on the computer.  I need to just start doing little updates from my phone.  That's what I'm always on anyway.
We have 8 puppies that were born the weekend before Easter.  Our stray girl ran off and got pregnant (she will be spayed as soon as we can afford it!)  I was so very blessed when I posted them on a "Free Animals to Good Homes In Oklahoma" site on Facebook and a person from The Bella Foundation contacted me almost immediately and wanted to take all puppies!  They will get them shots, spayed/neutered and microchipped this week and then to an adoption fair this weekend.  Then, if they aren't placed they will go to FOSTER HOMES!  So excited!  I have gotten attached to a few of the pups and would like to keep one but I would feel better keeping two so one would have someone to play with but I won't be keeping one.  Knowing that they will get placed with fosters and not be stuck in a shelter is so nice!  They are adorable though!  Plus, you can tell a few different daddies donated to the cause! Ha!

We traveled to Missouri to go to my cousin Shelby's college graduation from Evangel University (a christian university).  We were so very proud of her!  We stopped in Eureka Springs, Arkansas to see dad on our way back.  It was May 3rd and snowing and sleeting in Missouri!  Such a disappointment on weather!

We have season ticket's to the OKC Redhawks and have been enjoying that.  We went last night but didn't get to take Ryne again as it was a little cool and he still has a small cough from a recent cold.  We have joined Gymboree Play & Music in Norman and we go once or twice a week and he enjoys that.

We found a little dog a few weeks ago and he had a rabies tag but it was on a weekend so the vet was closed.  We watched him overnight and then found his owner the next day.  Well, we are dog sitting him right now!  They contacted us and said they'd rather pay someone to watch him and love on him than pay for him to sit in a crate at the vet.  I wouldn't mind starting a little dog sitting business!  :)

My tattoo is looking great.  I'd like to get it done again but it's just too expensive!  Between Gymboree classes, gas to go run around here and there and saving for our anniversary vacation this fall there's not much left for stuff like that!  Plus, I blow a lot on Ryne!  Here's a before picture and then 8 weeks after my first removal session.  It looks great!

Ok, I'm pooped and gonna eat some ice cream and go to bed!  I'm sure tons more has happened but I just can't think right now!

And We're Back!

Let's see, let's see.  Where to begin?  Do I really have that much to say?  First off, why in the world am I up this early?  I've been awake since just after 5 am and out of bed just before 6 am.  May seem odd to you but my little bug sleeps until about 9 am every morning, sometimes later.  So, yeah, I'm not usually out of bed this early!  I really need to update my page layout but I don't know if I'm that adventurous this morning.  It's already 7:45 so I got other things to get going!

I'm still taking cake classes.  We had a two week break, which I've enjoyed.  Tuesdays are hectic after being gone all day Monday spending time at Gramma's.  It's also a little expensive when it comes to supplies.  For each course you need new items and we are starting fondant this next course (3) which means lots of new tools.

The Miranda Lambert concert was awesome and Dierks Bentley was a great performer.  I'm not sure if I enjoyed him more or Miranda.  Lee Brice was good too.  It was like a "3 for 1" deal since they all have hit songs.  That was our splurge for the month.  Heck, maybe for the next few months!  Here we are waiting in line.

My little toot LOVES to be outside.  When we go to Gramma's I can hardly get any cleaning done because he is constantly going out the doggy door to be outside, regardless of the temperature.  If it's too bad I'll shut the door but otherwise I just check on him (about every 5 seconds!!!).  He's gonna be such a great little helper this summer!  This first picture is us walking around on the farm at home and him pointing to a big truck that went by.

 Photo: Enjoying the beautiful day!

Here he is at his favorite place at Gramma's, out back waiting for the ducks and geese to come be fed.  He does a little planting in between feedings. :)

He'd stay out there ALL day!  There were a couple of geese last summer that would eat out of our hands.  We're hoping they come back this year!

He has finally cut all of his incisors (thank GOD!).  They made him a clingy, whiny little boy.  We had a zoo trip with a friend and her little man and did pretty good.  I think he is allergic to his sunscreen though!  I thought he was just tired and rubbed it in his eyes which made his eyes water and his nose run.  Then this last weekend we went to the St. Patrick's Day parade in Blanchard (where we go to the library) and he did the same thing (without rubbing his eyes).  We thought maybe just general allergies but then realized with being outside all morning he didn't have any trouble.  So, I'll have to do a little research on what we should use instead!  Here's my patient little man (just for this picture!) waiting on the parade to start.  He did great not running towards the street until he saw the horses and ponies!  I had to chase him down!

As stated in a previous blog, my little guy is addicted to Toy Story (TS) and the characters.  His Gramma got him a plush Woody doll and TS blanket as part of his Valentine's Day gift.  Then, she got him some curtains for his room so we have changed him from his little baby decor to TS.  (sniff, sniff!).  I'll have to take some pictures.  He loves his almost 3 ft. tall Buzz Lightyear above his crib.  I have one wall I need to finish but it won't be TS.  It will have some printables on it that I saw on Pinterest of a song I usually sing to him at night.

The day of the concert I spent that morning getting my leg burnt off.  Well, it was only about 10 minutes and it was my first laser tattoo removal session.  It was a gift to get me started.  The damn thing only cost me about $40 to get and the FIRST session was $200.  Five times the original price and 5 times the original pain!!  We aren't sure how many sessions it will take (hoping not many and $200 a pop) but this first session has done well.  After a week and a half part of it is already gone.  They say it can take up to 6 months to see the final results.  I'm already pleased!  You aren't supposed to shave the treated area until it's healed (6-8 weeks) so in one picture you might see some hair!  I did accidentally shave over it the other night and it was fine.  I think that's if it scabbed and blistered, which mine didn't.  I was actually worried in the beginning that it didn't take well because it did so good.  I'm excited to have that thing gone!  Rusty is too because he wants me to wear shorts and skirts and I don't much because of it.  I try to educate people about getting tattoos now!  Plus, I always said I couldn't get another one until this one was taken care of and I want one for Ryne!  I have gotten one, my eyeliner but that was a gift too so it doesn't count! Here's a before and then 1 week after picture.  (Yes I need a tan, just look at those pores!!)

Well, I think that's it.  I don't lead an exciting life by any means but having my Ryne is enough excitement for me!

*Update: so I worked on a new layout but I need to do better on the banner.  Maybe later!

In The Water

I really really need to blog again!  I know, that is what I'm doing right now but I mean a good meaningful one.

One thing I do know is that babies are in the water again in Kansas!  Wowza, I'm glad I'm not in the Hays/Victoria area.  If I go visit I will definitely be drinking something other than water.

Don't get me wrong, I love my little man.  Seriously though, when you get perfection that very first time why chance it?  :o)

Lots more to post about.....first tattoo removal session, Lee Brice/Dierks Bentley/Miranda Lambert concert, and just life going on!

Happenings of Late

Here I am again!  Phew!  It's tough to find your way back to somewhere you haven't frequented much lately.  If it's not Ryne keeping me from getting on an actual computer it's Nemo, the new cat who likes to chase the mouse cursor or lay on the keys!

Ryne turned 18 months old on the 7th.  At his appointment on the 12th he weighed 26 lbs. 3 oz. in the 76th percentile; was 33 1/2 inches tall in the 84th percentile; and his head circumference was 19 1/2 inches in the 95th percentile!!  Must be that big old brain in there.  He cried/half screamed for the ENTIRE 30 minute appointment.  I was reassured over and over that it was normal for 18 months but as I tried to listen over him I found it so hard to believe.  He has gotten to where he doesn't want to go to or be around people he doesn't see on a regular basis.  He doesn't say words very much but he can say momma, daddy, duck, dog, cat.  I heard him say Ellie once, which is the name of his little elephant he sleeps with.  He will only talk when he wants to.  I am more concerned than the doctor at this time.  I was told everything was great and there weren't any things that they were concerned about.  I keep telling myself he did everything else so late why should I expect him to talk on cue?  I'm trying not to worry too much.  Here's my little toot on Valentine's Day having lunch with momma and daddy.

Valentine's day was wonderful for me.  It's been a long time since I've felt that spoiled.  I had requested chocolate covered strawberries and that was all.  When I woke up to say goodbye to Rusty that morning he sat my card on my nightstand.  I opened it and it was sending me to the mailbox but to make sure I got there before the mail lady did!  I figured it was my strawberries.  I was getting up and around when Rusty text me and said not to wait too long because it was time sensitive.  Of course again, I thought it was my strawberries.  So, Ryne and I went to the mailbox and there was another card that said "To Momma, Love Ryne".  It was an adorable Snoopy card that said that Snoopy was still up to something and I should look for him and Woodstock (from Ryne's room) in the living room.  We came back home and there was Snoopy and Woodstock on the shelf.  Behind them was the cutest mailbox.  It had Dove Bliss Dark Chocolates in it along with Miranda Lambert/Dierks Bentley concert tickets for OKC this March.  I was so shocked.  Then, when Rusty came home he had my chocolate covered strawberries with him.  What a treat for me!!!  I also got flowers from my dad, as he does EVERY Valentine's Day.

Poor Rusty, I feel like he got the shaft.  I made him a few things I saw on Pinterest.  I did the "DONUT you know I love you a HOLE bunch" and gave him donut holes that morning along with a new button up long sleeve shirt.  Then Ryne delivered a box of Reese's Pieces and balloons with a note that said "Daddy, I love you to PIECES!".  He also "signed" it.  I have to remind myself that he gets to go to the concert too so not to feel too bad.  Valentine's really snuck up on me this year!!  Didn't even get grandparents any valentines sent of Ryne's "friends"!

Ryne was spoiled by his Gramma.  She got him a DVD about dinosaurs, a Toy Story nightlight, a large plush Woody from Toy Story, a plush dog with a baseball for a heart, a Toy Story valentines mailbox and an outfit.  There may be more but I can't remember.  He got spoiled!  The kid is addicted to Toy Story.  It definitely comes in handy when he is in one of those moods where I can't figure out for the life of me what he is wanting and he just whines and cries.  Works every time.  I just try not to over use it!  Momma and Daddy got him a little Toy Story camera that shows little pictures of the cast on the display when you click the button and a Toy Story Valentines book.  It really is very fortunate that I am very fond of the Toy Story movies too!

We also moved him to his big boy room.  We didn't spend a lot of money (we just don't have it) and I even talked Rusty into spending even less by not doing new sheet rock and just painting the paneling in there.  Our house we moved into was built in the 1930's I think??  Not one room had an actual closet.  There was an addition that was originally where a crib was kept and we turned that into our closet.  It is like a nice huge walk in closet with floor to ceiling cabinets on one wall.  Ryne's room he is in now has a stand alone shower, sink and toilet.  It was originally a carport which explains the step down and the ceiling.  We are going to take out the shower and make that area a closet and then keep the sink and toilet for him.  As of right now that is NOT in our budget considering that budget is $0!  So, I will post some before and after pictures.  We still have yet to decorate the walls or anything but it is almost three times as big as his other "room" he was in!  The door you see next to the bookcase is still there in the next pictures but we just made it less noticeable and non-accessible.  It goes out right onto the storm shelter but I don't need my son having a door of his own!!  :o)

I took these as panoramic.  I wish I would have done the same for the before pictures!  You should see the before "before" pictures.  What a mess!!!

I have his name letters I need to get moved down there and need to find some other things for the wall.  We really love it though.  Rusty even made the step entering the room.  Ryne is also peeking into the bathroom in that first picture.  Can't wait to get him a real closet!  Also a new light fixture and ceiling fan.  We do a little at a time!

That's all for now.  I'm beat!

Hi-ya!

I'm just doing a quick one since it's kinda late and the old hubs is trying to sleep.  The tap-tappety-tap of the keys doesn't help. :o)

Things are good and my baby boy is 18 months old!  One and a half!!  Wowza!  He goes for his appointment Tuesday and I'm anxious to see how he measures out.  He is definitely a toddler with the occasional fits to be thrown and oh my, I sure get embarrassed when we are in public but I need to remind myself that anyone who has ever had a child will understand.  He is the lub to the dub of my heart!!

I also started taking cake decorating classes.  I asked for that as a Christmas gift from Rusty.  I completed course 1 (only 4 classes) and this was my finale cake.  Homemade buttercream frosting and I even added the striping technique.  My roses are lacking but for a first timer I was thrilled with it.  I was very unhappy with my leaves but I'll work on it.

I really liked my clown cake.  It was my third cake.

My Granny, who passed away this last year, was a professional cake decorator.  I have always wished I could do it and wish she could have been the one to show me.  All my family said she would have been extremely proud of these two cakes!

I'm looking forward to the next 3 courses!  It is also a nice night out for this momma!
